Our Team

R.J. Friedman

Born and raised in Hamburg, New York, RJ is an alumnus of St. Francis High School and graduated with honors from Providence College in Providence, Rhode Island. He is a 2007 graduate of University at Buffalo Law School.

R.J. worked as a law clerk for attorney Dennis Gaughan for seven years, through college and law school, before he was admitted to practice in New York in 2008. He was admitted to the US District Court for the Western District of New York and the US Bankruptcy Court in 2011.

R.J. continued to work at Dennis Gaughan Attorneys until Mr. Gaughan’s death in 2019, at which time he established the office of Gaughan + Friedman Attorneys in the same location at 6161 South Park Avenue in Hamburg, New York. RJ moved his practice to 202 Main Street in January 2020 under the new name of RJ FRIEDMAN ATTORNEYS.

R.J.’s practice is focused primarily on matrimonial and family law, real estate, and estate planning, and also includes criminal law and civil litigation. His office also has a large bankruptcy practice, and represents clients in their Social Security Disability and Workers Compensation claims.

R.J. is a member of the New York State Bar Association, and is active on the Family Court Practice and Procedure Committee and Matrimonial Law Committee for the Erie County Bar Association.

R.J. sits on the Board of Directors of the St. Francis High School Alumni Association, and he is a past coach of the St. Francis High School Mock Trial team. He is also a former board member of the University at Buffalo Law School Alumni Association GOLD Group.

R.J. resides in West Seneca, New York, with his wife, Kelly, and two daughters.

Kristin R. Spulecki

Kristen Spulecki was born and raised in the southtowns of Buffalo. After graduating from Nardin Academy, she attended Saint Michael’s College in Burlington, VT where she played division III ice hockey. After graduation, she dedicated a year to serving her community by volunteering with Americorps, where she mentored fifth graders in Buffalo public school. She went on to obtain her J.D. from the UB School of Law, studying environmental and family law. Throughout her three years at UB, Kristen competed with the arbitration team in New York City, studied abroad in Wellington, New Zealand, attended a UN Climate Conference in Katowice, Poland, and was the Editor in Chief of the Buffalo Environmental Law Journal. Kristen’s passion is family and matrimonial law. In her free time, however, she can be found coaching, playing, or watching ice hockey.
